User Guide

Practical steps for keeping your career record current, reviewing roles, preparing packets, tracking applications, managing connections, and configuring reminders. The short videos show individual features alongside the written instructions.

Recommended Operating Loop

  1. 1.Build your Master Resume as your source record.
  2. 2.Capture postings with the Chrome Extension.
  3. 3.Triage curiosity in My Queue.
  4. 4.Review serious roles in Decision Engine.
  5. 5.Generate packets only for roles worth pursuing.
  6. 6.Use Apply to start Tracker, then submit the application yourself.

1. Understand the RaetOS Workflow

RaetOS works best when each page has a clear job.

  1. 1Use Master Resume as your source record.
  2. 2Use the Chrome Extension to capture postings directly from job boards in one click.
  3. 3Use My Queue for roles you are curious about but have not committed to.
  4. 4Use Decision Engine when a role deserves serious review and gap analysis.
  5. 5Use Resume to find saved application packets and their generated outputs.
  6. 6Use the Apply action when you commit to applying; it starts Tracker. Submit the application yourself on the employer or job-board site.
  7. 7Use Network to keep connections and application links together, and prepare messages you review and send yourself.

Extension captures. My Queue is curiosity. Decision Engine is commitment. Capturing a role or generating a packet does not create an application.

2. Find Your Next Step on Dashboard

Start with the dashboard that fits what you are doing now.

  1. 1If you are new, follow the setup guidance to add your current role or first career evidence in Master Resume.
  2. 2Use Active Search for queue momentum, packets, applications, and the next useful search action.
  3. 3Use Career Record to focus on keeping wins, projects, skills, and readiness current while employed.
  4. 4Open Settings → Preferences → Dashboard Mode to choose Automatic, Active Search, Career Record, or Getting Started.

Automatic uses your current role and recent search activity to choose the dashboard. You can choose a different view yourself; your career record stays the same.

3. Your First Session

Get enough source material into RaetOS so the rest of the system has something real to work with.

  1. 1Create an account or sign in. Review and accept the current Terms when prompted; Privacy remains available before you decide.
  2. 2Open Master Resume.
  3. 3Upload a PDF or DOCX resume, paste source text, or add experience manually.
  4. 4Add more than one source if useful, such as old resumes. Paste work accomplishments or project notes you want included in your career record.
  5. 5Review the staged sources, roles, and bullets before adding them to Master Resume. Remove a source if it is not the material you intended to use.
  6. 6Fill obvious gaps such as job titles, companies, dates, skills, projects, certifications, and measurable outcomes.
  7. 7Choose Build Master Resume for your first intake, or Add to Master Resume for later sources. Review and correct the saved details before moving into job analysis. If a staged import is pending, use Review & Commit Import in Master Resume.

You do not need a perfect resume to start. RaetOS is meant to help turn rough source material into a usable career record.

4. Build and Maintain Master Resume

Master Resume is the well you keep filling so future resumes are easier to generate.

  1. 1Add each role with title, company, dates, location, and work type where relevant.
  2. 2Add accomplishments as evidence, not just duties.
  3. 3Review the role timeline, skills, education, credentials, and projects. Keep dates and current-role details accurate.
  4. 4Add projects that show proof outside normal job bullets.
  5. 5For federal roles, include hours, salary, supervisor, location, and clearance details when needed.
  6. 6Review evidence gaps and readiness guidance to see which details are missing.
  7. 7Open RaetAI for a particular role when you want focused help, or use the general RaetAI panel for broader record work. Review proposed changes before accepting them.
  8. 8Return after major projects, promotions, incidents resolved, and certifications.

Strong generated resumes come from strong source data. If the Master Resume is thin, outputs will be thin too.

Use numbers you can support. If you do not know a metric, describe the real scope or outcome instead of inventing one. A readiness indicator is guidance, not independent verification of your history.

5. Capture Evidence While Employed

RaetOS is not only for emergency job searches.

  1. 1Add your current role to Master Resume so new wins have a place to land.
  2. 2When the weekly dashboard card asks What shipped, moved, or got fixed?, write one line and choose Save it. The answer becomes a bullet on your current role.
  3. 3Choose Nothing this week when there is nothing to record. Choose I am looking again when you want to return to the Active Search dashboard.
  4. 4Save metrics such as time saved, money saved, tickets closed, users supported, systems migrated, downtime reduced, or revenue protected.
  5. 5Capture work accomplishments, promotion details, and leadership moments you can support.
  6. 6Add new tools, certifications, responsibilities, and projects as they happen.
  7. 7Review your Master Resume monthly or after each major work milestone.

The goal is readiness. If a layoff, promotion, referral, or better role appears, you are not starting from memory.

6. Capture Jobs With the Extension

Use the extension to collect postings quickly while browsing job boards.

  1. 1Open Settings → Extension to find the Chrome extension installation link. It also works in supported Chromium browsers such as Edge and Brave.
  2. 2Open the extension popup and choose Connect to RaetOS to authorize access to your account.
  3. 3Browse job boards normally.
  4. 4When the floating panel appears on a job posting page, choose Send to My Queue if the role is worth reviewing later.
  5. 5Choose Not interested if you do not want that posting to keep appearing.
  6. 6If a posting is not detected, open the popup and use Capture Anyway. Review the captured posting in My Queue.
  7. 7Use Recent Captures and the popup counters to review local capture history. Already captured means the posting is already in RaetOS.
  8. 8Choose Clear local history when you want a fresh local browser view.

Clearing the extension sent board does not delete jobs already saved to My Queue in your RaetOS account.

Detection varies by site. If the panel asks you to sign in or reload, reconnect or reload the page before trying again. You can also add a job manually in My Queue.

7. Review My Queue

Batch-review captured jobs before spending time generating resumes.

  1. 1Open My Queue.
  2. 2Use Add Job to enter a posting manually when you are not using the extension.
  3. 3Use All, Captured, Analyzed, Applied, or Not pursuing to focus the list. Search and sort to find the role you want.
  4. 4Open a captured posting and review the basic job details.
  5. 5Send promising roles to analysis.
  6. 6Use the analysis summary to decide whether to review in Decision Engine, save for later, or mark not pursuing.
  7. 7Keep My Queue for exploration, not final application history.

This is where you avoid wasting time. Not every job that looks interesting deserves a custom resume.

8. Work in Decision Engine

Use Decision Engine when a role is serious enough to compare against your career record.

  1. 1Open a role from My Queue or paste a job description directly.
  2. 2Review what the role asks for: skills, seniority, job type, federal/private signals, and keywords.
  3. 3Review how your Master Resume supports or misses those requirements.
  4. 4Read the verdict, requirement matches, and Fix Before You Apply guidance. Review sources attached to company, market, and employee-sentiment information when present.
  5. 5Check the recommended resume type.
  6. 6Override the resume type if you know a different format better fits your strategy.
  7. 7Review which roles and bullets will go on the resume. Adjust selections to reflect the evidence you want to use. A relevance score marked with ~ is an estimate.
  8. 8Generate a resume or packet only when the role is worth pursuing.
  9. 9If you are not ready, save for later or return without applying.

Decision Engine helps you make a better decision. It does not apply for you.

Match and ATS scores are RaetOS guidance, not an employer’s actual screening result or a hiring prediction. Review generated analysis and source information before relying on it.

9. Choose a Resume Type

Use the format that matches the role and your career story.

  1. 1Use chronological when your recent work history clearly matches the role.
  2. 2Use functional when you need to highlight transferable skills or explain a pivot.
  3. 3Use combination when both skills and timeline matter.
  4. 4Use targeted when the resume is built for one specific job posting.
  5. 5Use federal when the posting requires government-style detail.
  6. 6Review the generated resume before downloading or using it.

The recommendation is guidance. You remain the final reviewer.

10. Generate and Use Application Packets

Keep every generated output connected to the job it was made for.

  1. 1In Decision Engine, review the resume controls and choose Generate Complete Packet when ready.
  2. 2Name the packet clearly, such as Company Role v1.
  3. 3Review the resume and make sure it matches the posting.
  4. 4Download the resume when ready.
  5. 5Use Copy ATS Text when an application asks for pasted resume text.
  6. 6Review the cover letter, hiring manager email, and interview prep. If an asset is missing or failed, generate it separately; regenerate an asset when you need a revised draft.
  7. 7Open Resume to find saved packets later. Use their asset tabs to review, copy, or download content. Build ATS text if it is not present yet.
  8. 8If saving fails, keep a copy of the generated content before leaving. Generated content is not saved until the save succeeds.

A packet is preparation. It becomes application history only when you apply or track it.

11. Apply and Track

Move from preparation into application history when you actually apply.

  1. 1Choose Open Job & Apply in Decision Engine or Apply & Track from a saved packet in Resume. This creates the Tracker record when you click; it does not verify submission.
  2. 2Submit the application on the employer or job-board site.
  3. 3If your packet has no job link, use Mark Applied in Decision Engine and add the link in Tracker later.
  4. 4Move the application through stages such as applied, interviewing, offer, rejected, or closed.
  5. 5Switch between board and list views. Use watching to flag an application at any stage; it is not a separate Watchlist stage.
  6. 6Record notes, interview dates, and follow-ups. Use the follow-up action after you have actually contacted the employer, not when you only drafted a message.
  7. 7Show or hide closed applications on Tracker. Reopen a closed record to Applied when the pursuit resumes.
  8. 8Link connections from Network to the application. Linked contacts appear in the Tracker record alongside its activity history.
  9. 9Generate interview prep when the application moves into an interview stage.

RaetOS does not submit the application or read your inbox. Keep status and outcomes current yourself. Closed records stay on Tracker; there is no separate Archive page.

12. Manage Connections and Compose Messages

Keep people connected to your application record, and prepare messages you send yourself.

  1. 1Open Network and choose Add Connection. Add the person's name and type: Recruiter, Reference, Hiring Manager, or Other. Add title, company, email, LinkedIn URL, and notes when useful.
  2. 2Use the board or list view and search to find a connection. Open the card or row to edit details.
  3. 3Under Linked Applications, link the connection to an application or unlink it when the association is wrong. The contact also appears on that Tracker record.
  4. 4Choose Compose in the Network header, then choose the message type: introduction, reconnect, LinkedIn request, referral or reference ask, informational interview, application follow-up, interview thank-you, or status check.
  5. 5Choose an existing contact to fill in their name and type, or enter a name and contact type yourself. Add context about what happened or what you want to ask.
  6. 6Choose Generate, edit the draft, and copy it into the email or messaging service you use.

Compose can be used without saving a connection first. RaetOS drafts the message; you review and send it. A generated draft does not count as a sent follow-up.

13. Configure Reminders

Get a prompt for the next action without handing that action over to RaetOS.

  1. 1Open Settings → Notifications and use Send me reminders to turn email reminders on or off.
  2. 2Choose which reminders you want: Follow-up is due, Interview tomorrow, and Outcome not recorded.
  3. 3Choose Morning, Midday, or Evening for your preferred delivery time. The screen shows your browser-detected local timezone.
  4. 4If text reminders are available on your account, follow the phone verification and separate reminder-consent steps in Notifications. Verifying a number alone does not enroll you in reminders.
  5. 5After taking action, update the application in Tracker so the record reflects what happened.

Only interview and follow-up reminders go by text when text reminders are enabled and live. Reminders do not send messages to employers, submit applications, or read replies from your inbox.

14. Configure Settings

Settings gives RaetOS context and keeps account controls in one place.

  1. 1Add profile context such as current title, target roles, location, remote preference, work authorization, clearance, phone, LinkedIn, portfolio, GitHub, and website.
  2. 2Open Preferences to choose theme, default resume format, dashboard mode, and Tracker defaults.
  3. 3Open Security to manage MFA, review sessions and account security events, or revoke extension access. Keep recovery codes somewhere safe when setting up MFA.
  4. 4Open Notifications to configure reminders, Extension to manage connection setup, and Data & Privacy to export or clear working records.
  5. 5Use Resources to open Privacy, Terms, Cookies, Security, FAQ, User Guide, Help and Support, and Contact.

Profile and preference context can help Decision Engine understand what you are aiming for.

15. Export, Privacy, and Data Care

Know what you can take with you and how to handle sensitive information.

  1. 1Open Settings → Data & Privacy and choose Export Data to download a ZIP of your records: readable text and spreadsheet files, plus one complete JSON. Open README.txt first; this is separate from downloading a resume PDF.
  2. 2To clear working data, type CLEAR. Clear Queue removes uncommitted postings that have not become packets or tracker entries. Clear Packets removes packets that have not been marked applied.
  3. 3Account deletion is a separate action. Read the confirmation and Privacy Policy before entering your email and DELETE; clearing working data does not delete your account.
  4. 4Avoid storing employer secrets, credentials, customer data, private source code, or regulated data you are not allowed to reuse.
  5. 5Use Privacy, Security, Cookie Policy, and Terms of Service for source-of-truth policy details.
  6. 6Contact [email protected] for privacy, export, correction, or deletion questions.

Career evidence is valuable. Treat it like sensitive personal information.

16. Get Help

Use support when something breaks or when you need product guidance.

  1. 1Open Resources → Help and Support.
  2. 2Describe what page you were on, what you expected, what happened, and what you already tried.
  3. 3Include screenshots when helpful.
  4. 4Sign in to submit a support ticket. Describe the issue, choose the affected area, and attach relevant screenshots if helpful. Keep sensitive information out of your report.
  5. 5For product or account help, email [email protected].
  6. 6For privacy questions, email [email protected].
  7. 7For security concerns, email [email protected].

Clear reports make issues easier to reproduce and fix.
